Lincoln County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 28-year-old Evans woman on Thursday and charged her with obscene Internet contact with a child.
Jasmine Nicole Jones was arrested under the Computer or Electronic Pornography and Child Prevention law. She was also charged with possession of drug-related objects and possession of marijuana.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Jones is suspected of communicating with an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old and engaged in explicit verbal conduct involving sexual conduct.
The arrest was made after Jones traveled 1000 miles to meet the deputy whom she believed to be the minor, the sheriff’s office said, and she is being held in the Lincoln County Detention Facility awaiting a bond hearing.
Lincoln Sheriff Bruce Beggs said the arrest was made in cooperation with the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children task force. The operation targets those persons who communicate with children on-line and then travel to meet them for the purpose of having sex.
